WHAT IS THE TECHNIQUE AND IS IT SAFE?

Permanent lip liner and permanent lip tint is a safe and natural-looking alternative to the expense and daily routine of applying makeup upon waking in the morning and often times throughout the day. It is a state-of-the-art technique of permanently applying makeup via intradermal micropigmentation. The treatment utilises a 100% single-use, disposable system to introduce quality semipermanent pigments to the skin. These pigments are added to the lips to create a natural, soft look in a nude colour to a dramatic bold colour that imitates your favourite lipstick. And anything in between… Properly applied by an experienced technician, permanent lip makeup can be even more natural and realistic in appearance as compared to conventional cosmetics.

What happens during a Semi-permanent Lip treatment?

Your treatment will begin with a consultation in our clinic discussing the shape and the colour of your preference to ensure the first-class result! Like all of our procedures, everything is discussed and pencilled in prior to starting to ensure that you have total control over the style, colour and shape of your lip enhancement. You have the option of whether you want a  natural or dramatic result and pigments are custom blended to meet your requests. You are in complete control of your treatment. Once the process has been explained and you have agreed to the design, you will be required to fill in the consent form and medical questionnaire and we take a copy of your ID as per current legislation. Our numbing process is as good as it gets and we only use top of the line topical anaesthetics to maximise your comfort.  The permanent makeup process starts once the treated area is numb. Once your new permanent lip treatment is complete you will be given written information on aftercare and the healing process.

How long does a procedure take?
Including the consultation, paperwork, and numbing time, the average length of time for one procedure is approximately 1.5- 2.5 hours. The second application is usually for l hour or less.

I have great difficulty applying makeup. How will the permanent lip tint look?
Truthfully, it will look sensational. You have a choice of 3 treatments. Natural lip contour – subtly re-define the contour of your lips and even correct slight imperfections. Natural contour with partial lip tint effect – discreet contouring that defines your lips, with blush shading distributed partially through the lip to give the illusion of volume and a colour that’s in harmony with your natural colouring. Natural lip contour and full lip tint -saturates the lips with colour in a natural or intense shade. Subtly defines your lip contour and infuses colour completely throughout your lips

Does it hurt?

A very little discomfort is experienced during the procedure. The anaesthesia used is of a superior grade and is extremely effective. This can be applied as many times as it is needed to achieve painless results.

How many applications are needed?

Semi-permanent makeup is a 2-3 step process with most clients requiring 2 sessions for optimal results. However, many of her clients are fully satisfied with just one application. If a second application is needed, it is scheduled 4-8 weeks after the initial procedure.

How much do permanent lip treatments cost?

The permanent lip procedure is £325 this includes your second session if needed. Corrective procedures are generally more expensive and are individually priced.

£175 – up to 2-year retouch from initial treatment

Will it look “natural”?

YES — It will look more natural than your own conventional make-up. Unless you tell somebody you’ve had it applied, they’ll never know. Skin n Tonic Aesthetics specialises in “natural-looking” makeup and with an artistic eye will capture the natural beauty of the client.

What is the healing period like?

Swelling and redness are typically moderate to high immediately after the treatment. For approximately 7 days following the procedure, your lips will appear dry and chapped and you will need to apply a thin film of ointment to the procedure site. During this first week, the colour is a lot more intense than the end result but will soften as the lips heal.

The healing process is between 3 and 4 days with lip liner tattooing or a week for full lip treatments. Apply Bepanthan cream as often as needed to keep the lips feeling moist. If you do experience dryness or flaking of the skin, avoid picking at it. Simply apply more cream and let the lips exfoliate themselves in the healing process. It is not recommended to wear lipstick for the first few days and avoid hot drinks and spicy foods. To ensure the best healing, avoid kissing anyone on the lips (particular for protecting against cold sore sufferers). Your lips may feel dryer than usual for a few months afterwards, use an SPF moisturising lip balm, and apply the Bepanthan daily to keep them moist and protected.

Note. If you have ever had a cold sore having your lips tattooed may cause an outbreak of cold sores on the lip area, to minimize this from happening it may be advisable that you take an antiviral such as L-lysine one week prior to your treatment and after treatment apply Zovirax cream to the lips, please discuss this with your doctor prior to your procedure. Even so, you still may get a cold sore after having your lips tattooed even if you have never had cold sores in the past.

How long does permanent makeup last?

Permanent cosmetics are permanent in that you will always have a permanent marking on your skin. However, over time, you will notice a gradual softening of colour occurring each year. Many women feel that this is advantageous, as they feel that their permanent makeup will age with them. “Colour boosts” are recommended yearly to those who wish to keep their permanent makeup looking as fresh as possible.
